As some of you might know, books and music are my best friend. Tonight I decided to mix them. I turn them into a playlist about the book I’ve just finished today, Haruki Murakami’s Sputnik Sweetheart. This is my very first fiction from Murakami. I finished it on 4.5 hours (sum up of two days commute and two hours late night reading) and rated it 4/5 on Goodreads. I don’t quite get every metaphor yet I’m so captivated with Murakami’s choice of words. I was drowned in the sea of rhyme words which are tied neatly in perfect sentences. This is my favorite lines in the book:
“I closed my eyes and listen carefully for the descendants of Sputnik, even now circling the Earth, gravity their only tie to the planet. Lonely metal souls in the unimpeded darkness of space, they meet, pass each other, and part, never to meet again. No words passing between them. No promises to keep.“
Enthralled by the whimsical world from K’s perspective, I feel like I should write something about this book. I just wanna share the taste of the story without spoil anything. I want to make you feel, like when you read your friend’s food review. You know the steak is tasty and after you read it, you want to go to that resto don’t you? Get the point? Good!
So here it is.
These are the sound of Sputnik Sweetheart (if it is a movie and I were the music director). Take your late night coffee and hope you enjoy my picks.
