Okay, now I am reading your page to know the secrets to be happy because life is suck anyway and it’s not as wonderful as Louis Armstrong’s song.
And oh, who is Hector?
Some of you might have a thought like that. Some of you might still in search to define what happiness is. Some of you might already happy and just want to know if Hector’s recipe matches yours. Some of you might be just killing time. Some of you might just want to know what I write today. And some of you just simply don’t care – intuitively click the link and here you are.
Today we’re gonna talk about happiness. And Hector.
Hector is a psychiatrist in a fiction world called Hector’s and The Search of Happiness. The author, François Lelord, is a real psychiatrist. So it’s about a psychiatrist who tells a story about a psychiatrist who feels dissatisfied with his work. Why? Because he can’t make people happy anymore, even he is the best psychiatrist in town!
Then he wonders, “what made people happy?”.
I was enjoying Hector’s voyage of discovery and quite fond of Hector who is not just intelligent but also funny (basically he knows how to be liked instantly by strangers – I guess he has a lure or something). It’s a guidebook of happiness in a novel’s clothing with additional drama and jokes. Through simple prose, he (and I) learned 22 lessons on how to be happy. I don’t want to spoil any story in here, so I’ll make it short in a list. Here we go!
#1 : Making comparisons can spoil your happiness
#2 : Happiness often comes when least expected
#3 : Many people see happiness only in their future
#4 : Many people think happiness comes from having more power or more money
#5 : Sometimes happiness is not knowing the whole story
#6 : Happiness is a long walk in beautiful, unfamiliar mountains
#7 : It’s a mistake to think that happiness is the goal
#8 : Happiness is being with people you love
#9 : Happiness is knowing your family lacks for nothing
#10 : Happiness is doing a job you love
#11 : Happiness is having a home and a garden of your own
#12 : It’s harder to be happy in a country run by bad people
#13 : Happiness is feeling useful to others
#14 : Happiness is to be loved for exactly who you are
#15 : Happiness comes when you feel truly alive

So yeah. That’s it. It might be too much, but those five bold printed points say it all. If you want to get these lessons in a shorter amount of time, you could watch the movie.
I wish you gain something for what I share today. As for now, I am reading another Hector’s Journey : Hector and The Secrets of Love. I can’t wait to share another secret so yeah have a good time, folks! Don’t forget to be happy today (and every day!) 🙂
